All compounds were also assayed on brine shrimp larvae ( Artemia salina L.). The assay was performed in cell culture plates with 24 cells as previously described ( Andolfi et al., 2014). The metabolites were tested at 50 μg/mL. DMSO was used as negative control. Tests were performed in quadruplicate. The percentage of larval mortality was determined after 36 h incubation at 27 ◦ C in the dark.
