Crossota brunnea Vanhöffen, 1903 

Distribution in South America: medusa—Pacific Ocean, Chile, from 30°S to 33.67°S (Fagetti 1973 p. 42–43; Palma & Rosales 1995); Atlantic Ocean, Brazil, no specific record, Argentina, at 37.65°S 55.88°W, and at northwest of South Georgia (Vanhöffen 1912; Kramp 1948; Vannucci 1951a; Migotto et al. 2002; Genzano et al. 2008a).

Habitat: medusa –bathypelagic species occurring in all oceans of the south hemisphere (Kramp 1959a).
