TYPE LOCALITY: Uncertain. "Das Vaterland des beschreibenen Thieres ist die Barbarey" .

DISTRIBUTION: Bhutan, Burma, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Nepal, New Guinea, Philippine Isis, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam; scattered records in Sulawesi, Moluccas, and Aru Isis, probably resulting from introductions.

STATUS: CITES - Appendix III ( India); IUCN - Endangered as P. lignicolor .
