TYPE LOCALITY: Mexico, Veracruz, Xuchil, SE side of Mt. Orizaba .

DISTRIBUTION: Known only from the type locality.

COMMENTS: Subgenus Heterogeomys . May be conspecific with hispidus ( Hall, 1981:512) .
