Paracardiophorus Schwarz, 1895 .
Species in this genus key to species in section I of Blanchard’s (1889) key and the first two groups of Lanchester’s (1971) key. Hume Douglas verified many of the Montana species identifications recorded here. The most difficult species to differentiate are Paracardiophorus fenestratus (LeConte) and Paracardiophorus propinquus (Lanchester) , which require dissection of the genitalia for accurate identification. In Montana, P. fenestratus is much more common and widely distributed than P. propinquus . However, when genitalia dissection information was unavailable and/or unknown, the specimen was assumed to be P. fenestratus .
