Distribution and habitat. Holarctic. Numerous records in almost all European countries ( Schmelz 2003; Schmelz & Collado 2010; Martin et al. 2015; Dózsa-Farkas 2019), also in Algeria ( Rota & Healy 1994), Canada ( Dash 1970), U. S. A. and Japan ( Schmelz 2003), Arctic archipelagos ( Christensen & Dózsa-Farkas 2006), Korea ( Hong & Dózsa-Farkas 2018; Dózsa-Farkas et al. 2019), Russian Far East ( Degtyarev et al. 2020). This species was found in a wide diversity of soil, from limy to sandy, from dry to moist, from nutrient-rich to nutrient -poor; also in salt marshes and in semiaquatic and aquatic freshwater habitats ( Schmelz, 2003).

Distribution in China. Zhejiang and Hunan Province ( Wang et al. 1999); Yunnan and Jilin Province (Chen 2009; Lian et al. 2011); Xizang Autonomous Region ( Lu et al. 2018).
