This species was described from Guinea ( Chopard 1954), and here it is reported for the first time from Ghana. Individuals from Ghana differ from the Guinean population in their coloration: the marginal area of the tegmina is yellow (light green in Guinean population), and the posterior margin of the tegmen is lightly colored, forming a distinct, wide band on the dorsal portion of the folded tegmina (Guinean population lacks this pattern.) The morphology of the stridulatory apparatus of the male, and abdominal terminalia of both sexes are identical in both populations. A. nitens appears to be a species associated with undisturbed, mid-elevation forests, where it can be found on vegetation at least 2 m above the ground.

Naskrecki (Camp 3)— 4 females, 1 male ( MCZ); Asiakwa (South), elev. 690 m (6°15'44.3''N, 0°33'18.8''W), 11–16.vi.2006, leg. P. Naskrecki (Camp 2)— 2 females, 1 male ( MCZ); Atiwiredu, elev. 795 m (6°12'24.7''N, 0°34'37.2''W), 6–10.vi.2006, leg. P. Naskrecki (Camp 1)— 2 males ( ANSP, MCZ); Guinea: Nimba, N’Zo, ii–vi. 1942, leg. M. Lamotte— 1 male (holotype) ( MNHN); Nimba, Nion, (7°36'34''N, 8°28'45''W), ii. 1942, leg. M. Lamotte— 1 female (paratype) ( MNHN); Guinee Forestiere, Foret Classee Diecke, Camp 2, nr. Yossono, elev. 460 m (7°29'40''N, 8°49'54''W), 26– 29.xi.2003, leg. P. Naskrecki— 1 female ( ANSP).
