Allen (1889b: 223) did not find a type specimen in AMNH of Fringilla plumbea Wied (1830: 579) nor did he find the name listed in Wied’s manuscript catalog. I also did not find any Wied specimens of plumbea . It was said by Wied to be common in the Campo Geral of Brazil. Now: Sporophila plumbea plumbea ( Wied, 1830) .
