Type:— ALBANIA. Korça district: calcareous rocky cliffs of the Gollomboçi Peninsula at Lake Megali Prespa , 7–15 m above the lake shore, 850‒860 m, 40°51’N, 20°57’E, 24 June 2017, Shuka s.n. (holotype TIR!; isotypes C!, LD!) GoogleMaps .

Herbaceous perennial woody at base. Stems 40‒80 cm, single to several, often branched from base, with several branches in upper part one-capitulate. Leaves greyish-white puberulent, rarely glabrous. Basal leaves pinnatipartite, segments narrowly lanceolate, rather variable; uppermost stem leaves lanceolate, entire. Capitula ovoid, 11‒13 × 5‒6 mm (excluding florets); phyllaries glabrous, 3-veined; appendages brown to dark brown with terminal spinule equalling or slightly longer than the whitish lateral cilia, not outwardly bent at anthesis. Florets yellow, 16‒20 mm. Achenes 2.8‒3.1 × 1.3‒1.6 mm, blackish-brown, puberulent; pappus hairs shorter than body of achene, outer hairs 1‒1.2 mm.

Endemic to SE Albania. Calcareous rocky cliffs above both Prespa lakes. Flowering and fruiting June and July.

Eponymy

The species is named in honour of Dr Spase Shumka, native to Gorica e Vogel, a village of Makro Prespa. He has contributed greatly to work on the Albanian part of the Prespa National Park.
