Diagnostic features ( Fig. 3C–D View Figure 3 )
Mesoscutum covered with mixed long yellow and black hairs; fasciae clearly reaching lateral margins of tergites (or ending just before the lateral margin, but the lateral margin is always partly yellow).
Genitalia: Ventral margin of surstylus less concave than in C. festivum and C. tomentosum .
Habitat
Deciduous forest/open ground, mesophilous/thermophilous deciduous forest and dry, unimproved grassland with scrub, on well-drained sites ( Speight, 2012).
Range
Fennoscandia south to Iberia and the Mediterranean; through central and southern Europe into European parts of Russia as far as the Caucasus Mountains and into Turkey ( Speight, 2012).
