Poeppig 2996 as examined and reported that there are duplicates deposited at “ Vindob., Boiss., Brux., Berol., Acad. Petrop. ” herbaria, which are currently recognized by the acronyms: W, G, BR, B, and LE, respectively. According to Article 9.11 of the ICN, the duplicate deposited at BR ( BR 0000008931016, Figure 1A View FIGURE 1 ) is designated as the lectotype. At BR, the specimen is mixed with a specimen of Comolia purpurea Miquel (1845: 617) , in addition to the draft description developed by Cogniaux (1885) for Flora brasiliensis ( Figure 1B View FIGURE 1 ). The duplicate at “ Berol. ” ( B), as mentioned in the protologue ( Cogniaux 1885), was not found during the search. Furthermore, the nomen nudum “ Comolia poeppigiana O.Berg. ” was found on labels from materials deposited at BR ( BR 0000008931016, Figure 1A View FIGURE 1 ) and W ( W 0001193 and W 0001194).
