6. Comolia nummularioides (Bonpl.) Naudin (1850a: 27) View in CoL . ≡ Rhexia nummularioides Bonpl. (in Humboldt & Bonpland 1812: 62, pl. 23). ≡ Arthrostemma nummularioides (Bonpl.) De Candolle (1828: 137) . Type:— VENEZUELA [in sheet]. ad Orinocum, juxta vicum Esmeraldas [in protologue], s.d., A.J.A. Bonpland s.n. (holotype: P! [P00136389]; isotype: BR! [BR0000008930620 possible fragment]).
Notes: —The case of C. nummularioides is similar to that presented in the Notes of C. leptophylla . When describing Rhexia nummularioides, Humboldt & Bonpland (1812) did not indicate the original material, only the type location. Therefore, we searched the original material with that name from information available in later treatments (e.g., De Candolle 1828; Naudin 1850a; Cogniaux 1885) and in the Preface by Humboldt & Bonpland (1823). The collection A.J.A. Bonpland s.n. (P00136389) was found with notes regarding the treatment of Naudin (1850a), supporting that this is the original material of Rhexia nummularioides . Besides, the types of Melastomataceae collected by Bonpland were sent to P ( Wurdack 1971a). Thus, we conclude that A.J.A. Bonpland s.n. at P (P00136389) is the holotype of Rhexia nummularioides and the sample at BR (BR0000008930620) is considered a possible fragment of the holotype.
