Description

Adult ( Figure 5E View Figure 5 ). Wing expanse 13.0 mm. Head creamy white, tinged with pale yellow-brown laterally. Antenna with scape dark ochreous-brown on dorsal surface, brownish yellow on ventral surface; flagellum brown on dorsal surface, with dark brown annuli, grey-yellow on ventral surface. Labial palpus white; second segment black on outside three-quarters; third segment tinged with yellow, brown at base. Thorax and tegula ochreous-brown. Fore wing ground colour yellow-grey, scattered with brown scales; costal margin arched, basal one-quarter blackish grey, orange-yellow distally; termen oblique, dark brown, apex protruding; two basal stripes placed near costa and above dorsum respectively, edged with pale yellow; black triangular blotch from between basal one-third and near middle of dorsum narrowed upward to threequarters width across wing, edged with light yellow; discocellular stigma black, rounded, surrounded with pale yellow; terminal fascia black, with pale yellow edge, from before apex obliquely inward to near outside of discocellular stigma, then weakening obliquely outward to tornus; cilia grey-white, somewhat yellow. Hind wing and cilia yellow-grey. Fore leg white, femur and tibia dark brown on outside, tarsus with basal one-third dark brown, mottled brown scales distally; mid- and hind legs greyyellow, hind leg mixed with brown on outer surface, ringed with black distally.

Male genitalia ( Figure 6E View Figure 6 )

Uncus slender, thinned to pointed apex. Gnathos broad U-shaped, lateral side wide at base, gradually narrowed to centre. Valva nearly same width except narrowed distally, apex bluntly oblique; costa straight, concave basally; dorsoproximal process expanded in ring form, sporadic with setae. Sacculus shorter than costa, sclerotized heavily, wide, dorsal three-fifths straight; distal two-fifths greatly protruding, forming a large triangular dorsal process, reaching about one-third width of valva. Aedeagus stout, cornutus consisting of a group of thick and thin spines.

Female

Unknown.

Diagnosis

The new species is similar to E. microdelta Meyrick superficially and in male genitalia. It can be separated from the latter by the dorsal three-fifths of the sacculus being straight, distal two-fifths greatly protruding to form a large triangular process. In E. microdelta Meyrick , the dorsal half of the sacculus is straight, semi-circularly concave near middle, forming a trapezoidal process distally.

Etymology

The specific name is derived from the Latin deltatus (= triangular), referring to the fore wing, sacculus with a large triangular process distally.
