Lyrella perplexa (H. & M. Peragallo) Ryabushko (2006: 61)
Basionym: Navicula perplexa H. & M. Peragallo (1897: 136, pl. 23, fig. 13)
Valves elliptic to almost circular-elliptic, 97 µm long, 65 µm broad. Raphe straight, axial area narrow, linear, central area narrow transversely rectangular, connected to lateral areas. Lateral areas very narrow, positioned close to the raphe, in the middle constricted, convergent towards apices. Transapical striae coarse, punctate, in the middle parallel, towards apices becoming radiate, 6–7 in 10 µm.
Distribution:—Marine species, found at coasts of Cannes ( France) and Balearic Islands (H & M. Peragallo 1897 –1908). Black Sea, North-Western shelf ( Ryabushko 1991, 2006).
