Type species: Erythroneura amseli Dlabola, 1961 View in CoL

Body slim, ground color yellow to yellowish-brown, with many brown to blackish-brown patches. Head with pair of triangular black patches; eyes grey to black; face usually with four roundish black patches along fore margin, sides of frontoclypeal area black; pronotum brown at middle part and hind margin, with pair of dumbbell-shaped black patches along fore margin and two black patches on each side; basal triangles and midline or tip of scutellum blackish. Head narrower than pronotum, vertex slightly produced in the middle, coronal suture distinct. Face with lorum large, anteclypeus long. Fore wing with 1 st and 3 rd apical cells large and broad, 2 nd apical cell narrow, 4 th apical cell broad, not reaching apex of fore wing, but longer than half length of 3 rd apical cell. Hind wing venation usual for Erythroneurini View in CoL , RA vein distinct.

Abdominal apodemes well sclerotized, broad but short, usually expanded dorsad, not exceeding 3 rd sternite. Anal tube short, 10 th abdominal segment well sclerotized and ornamented with numerous spines, without anal tube appendage.

Male genitalia: Pygofer moderately sclerotized, pygofer side usually with membranous dorsal and ventral margin, with many short slender setae at cephalo-ventral angle of lobe and at hind margin; dorsal appendage well sclerotized, movably articulated, usually knife-like; ventral appendage seldom present. Subgenital plate surpassing hind margin of pygofer side, broadened subbasally and narrowing towards apex, apex rounded or tapering; with a row or rows of marginal stout setae from subbase to subapex, with 3-4 macrosetae at about midlength or subapex of the plate. Style usually with long and foot-like apical part and quite large preapical lobe. Connective lamellate, with distinct manubrium and central lobe. Aedeagal shaft tubular with preatrium developed, usually with pair of processes; gonopore apical or subapical on ventral surface.
