Diagnostic description. Body shape slender. Head lateral cephalic lobe large, narrowly rounded. Antenna 1 peduncular article 1 without posterodistal spine; accessory flagellum article 1 short; flagellum without callynophore in female. Mandible with accessory setal row present on both sides; left lamina dentata absent; palp attached slightly distally; palp article 2 broad, article 3 not distally tapered, with margins convex or subparallel. Maxilla 1 outer plate setal-teeth smooth or with weak cusps; palp well developed, slender, 1-articulate or 2-
articulate. Maxilliped inner plate small; outer plate large; palp 4-articulate, article 4 large. Gnathopod 1 ischium smaller than propodus; corner of palm with simple robust seta or without robust seta. Gnathopod 2 palm transverse or acute. Epimeron 3 posteroventral corner broadly rounded or subquadrate. Uropod 3 biramous.

Remarks. Figorella appears to be a mainly deep-sea group, occurring from eastern Indonesia, Australia and New Caledonia through to the Southern Ocean and Antarctic Peninsula.
