Diagnosis. This species has distinct sexual dimorphism. The male is well characterised by intensive red colour of the mesothorax laterally, metathorax and tergites 1–3, forewing base and the tip of the abdomen. In similar congeners at least one of these segments is black. The female is uniformly black with intensive green-metallic gloss, except for the red forewing base. The genitalia have not been dissected. See also Camaegeria aristura .
Further specimens examined: 1 ♀, Durban, 9.Jan.1918; 1 ♀, Bulawayo, 18.Dec.1924 (TMBS).
