Basionym:― Salsola contrariifolia Botsch. in Novosti Sist. Vyssh. Rast. 9: 142 (1972).

Type:― SOUTH AFRICA. Boschjemanland [Namaqualand]: Bitterfontein , kalksteinhaltige Hugel und karrooartige Niederungen, reichhaltig and Salzpflanzen, 3000–4000 ft elev., Zeyher 1447 (planta oppositifolia) (holotype LE-00011844 ! ; isotypes K-000243983 ! , K-000243984 ! , K-000243985 ! , LE-00011844 !) .
