Type:― SOUTH AFRICA. Near Bloemhoef, 4100 ft. elev., 12 February 1904, Burtt Davy 1496 (holotype K-000243951! ; isotypes PRE-0370836-0!, PRE-0592860-0!, PRE-0592861-0!) .

Distribution: ―Botswana: southern Kalahari; Namibia? (see Aellen, 1967); South Africa (NW, FS, NC): widely distributed in eastern Bushmanland, eastern Upper Karoo, salt pan regions of western Free State and adjacent North-West Province.
