Rodriguesophis chui Rodrigues, 1993

Caatinga endemic species. It is known only from the type-locality, Santo Inácio village in municipality of Gentio do Ouro, Bahia State. The area has 475 m elevation. It has a restricted distribution on sandy dunes of the right bank of the São Francisco, covered with herbaceous and bushy caatinga on sandy soils ( Rodrigues 1993). It has fossorial and psamophylous habits, is diurnal and nocturnal, and feeds on lizards ( Rodrigues 1993).
