Comment. Perez Goodwyn (2006) raised the Nearctic subgenus Benacus Stål, 1861 and resurrected the synonym Kirkaldyia Montandon, 1909 , both as valid genera. Therefore, Lethocerus Mayr, 1853 includes now only the nominotypical subgenus.
