General distribution. The nominotypical subspecies is distributed in entire Europe, north-western Africa, Cyprus, Transcaucasia, Iraq, Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and the Asian part of Kazakhstan ( Jansson 1995; Protić 1998, 2001; Kanyukova 2006). Sigra nigrolineata mendax Heiss & Jansson, 1986 is endemic to Crete and some adjacent islands ( Jansson 1986a, 1995).
