Lucilia timorensis Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830: 460 . Holotype female, “ New Holland ” [ Australia], in MNHN ( Pont, 1973a: 198).
Diagnosis. Palpi and antenna dark brown; presutural dorsocentral setae 2; wing membrane entirely covered with microtrichia; hind tibia with calcar present. Male hypopygium as in Figs 66, 69 and 72; male aedeagus with epiphallus short (Fig 75), and praegonite with 3 setae; female ovipositor as in Figs 81 and 82 (all Figs in Pont, 1973a).
Material examined: BPBM: New Caledonia: Monts Koghis : 400–600 m, i.1969, 1 ♀, N.L.H. Krauss .
Comments. The species is recorded for the first time in New Caledonia. As only one specimen is known, it must be queried whether this was a chance importation that failed to establish or even whether the locality label may be in error. Redescription, comments on types, synonymies, details on geographical records and biology in Pont (1973a) .
Distribution. Australia (NSW, NT, Qld), Indonesia ( Ambon, Ceram, Flores, Timor, Western New Guinea, Maluku), New Caledonia ( New Caledonia), PNG (Bismarck Arch., PNG), Rennell I., Solomon Is; East Asia, Oriental Region.
