Vernacular Names: Horn-skinned Serotine.
Synonyms: Eptesicus (Rhinopterus) lowei Thomas 1915 .
Distribution: Sudan, Mali.
Conservation: IUCN 2003 and IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Lower Risk (nt).
Discussion: Subgenus Rhinopterus . Includes lowei ; see Braestrup (1935). Hayman and Hill (1971) listed lowei as a distinct species but expressed serious doubts about its validity, noting almost complete overlap with floweri in size and color.
