This is a Palearctic species, recorded from USSR, Iran, and Iraq ( Leclercq 1966). Ježek (1981) described the last instar larva and pupa of this form, giving illustrated diagnostic characters. Al-Tunsoy & Kılıç (2010) listed the current species with 12 chromosomes in its somatic cells (2n₌12). Abbassian-Lintzen (1964) stated that zimini is a halophile species.
