This species is Afrotropical, common and widespread in Africa (Oldroyed 1954). It was recorded from Jordan, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia ( Amoudi & Leclercq 1993; Al-Houty, 1997; Müller et al. 2011). This species plays an active role in transmitting camel trypanosomiasis. It is one of the species most frequently responsible for causing the death of camels in Sudan ( Osman et al. 2020). Moreover, Abah et al. (2020) found taeniola was infected with Trypanosoma theileri .
