Atylotus quadrifarius (Loew, 1874) View in CoL
Atylotus quadrifarius View in CoL has Palearctic and Oriental affinity. It is distributed from Morocco through the North Mediterranean countries to southern Russia, the Near and Middle East to Central Asia ( Chvála et al. 1972). It was recorded from Iraq, Jordan, and Palestine ( Müller et al. 2011).
The olfactory sensitivity of Atylotus quadrifarius View in CoL and semiochemicals that affect vector-host interactions was investigated. The findings showed that Atylotus quadrifarius View in CoL distinguishes the host by detecting and reacting to species-specific chemicals or specific ratios of ubiquitous molecules ( Baldacchino et al. 2012, 2014). Identifying the chemical compounds that influence vector–host interactions should aid in controlling insects’ populations via pest management techniques ( Pinto et al. 2012).
