Haematopota pluvialis View in CoL is a Palearctic species. It is widely distributed throughout Europe, where considered the commonest species of the family ( Brightwell & Dransfield 2014). The occurrence of species in the Arab countries of the Middle East needs verification. Only recorded in Saudi Arabia by El-Hawagry et al. (2017). Females attack vigorously man and animals during all day even in the cloudy and showery weather ( Chvála et al. 1972). Haematopota pluvialis View in CoL shows high variation in antenna and abdomen ( Brightwell & Dransfield 2014). This species is known as a vector of tularemia and anthrax ( Krinsky 1976).
