This species is Palearctic and suggested to be endemic to Saudia ( Amoudi & Leclercq 1988). Superficially, it resembles the Ethiopian species in the group of Tabanus ruficrus Palisot de Beauvois 1807 however, it differs in costa, frons, antenna, and coloration ( Amoudi & Leclercq, 1988). It was recorded from Saudi Arabia ( Amoudi & Leclercq 1988).
