Tabanus bromius Linnaeus, 1758 View in CoL
Tabanus bromius View in CoL is a Palearctic species. It is very widely distributed and one of the common species in the family ( Sanal Demirci et al. 2021). The species shows a long range of variations in all aspects, which is reflected in the long synonymy list ( Chvála et al. 1972). Tabanus bromius View in CoL is a well-known vector of trypanosomiasis, anthrax, and tularaemia ( Krinsky 1976). In the Arab countries of the Middle East, this species was recorded by Sabr (2018) in Iraq, during a study of the relative abundance and seasonality of the horseflies. Moreover, Austen (1924) listed this species in Palestinian fauna. Chvála et al. (1972) mentioned the occurrence of bromius View in CoL in all Middle East countries. Further studies are needed to clarify the occurrence of this important species in the Arab countries of the Middle East and its medical and veterinary importance.
