Adersia guichardi Oldroyd, 1957 View in CoL
Mackerras (1954) created subfamily Scepsidinae to include three genera ( Scepsis Walk. ; Adersia Aust. ; Braunsiomyia Beq. ) with reduced mouthparts, similar habits and distinguished genetalia. After more specimens became available, Mackerras (1955) said that Adersia has strong affinity to Chrysopsinae , but he kept the taxonomic position of Adersia and other two genera under Scepsidinae untill further studies carried out.
On the other hand, Dias (1958, 1962) raised Scepsis and Braunsiomyia to the tribe level, keeping Braunsiomyiini and Scepsidiini under Pangoniinae and took Adersia into subfamily level Adersiinae. Recently, Morita et al. (2016) suggested that Adersia belongs to the tribe Chrysopsini within Chrysopsinae . Karsch (1888) originally placed Adersia 's type species in the genus Silvius .
The current work followed Mackerras (1954, 1955) and kept the genus Adersia under subfamily Scepsidinae . This subfamily is represented by one species, Adersia guichardi . It is of Ethiopian origin, collected from Oman only ( Al-Dhafer et al. 2009).
