Described from England where it was taken on dried sedges imported from Eastern Europe, the only species in this genus was recorded from Inner Mongolia, China by Dang and Qiao (2013a). The remarkable ensiform process in front of eyes ( Fig. 57 View FIGURES 55–60 ) distinguishes this genus from any other member of Haplothripini .
Diagnosis: Head a little longer than wide, strongly prolonged in front of eyes ( Fig. 57 View FIGURES 55–60 ); eyes normal, postocular setae developed; stylets long and far apart, with maxillary bridge; antennae 8-segmented, III with 1 or 2 sensoria, IV with 3 or 4; pronotum with major setae variable in length, notopleural sutures complete; basantra present; mesopresternum developed; sternopleural sutures absent; fore tarsal tooth present in female; forewings distinctly constricted medially, with duplicated cilia; pelta triangular; terga II–VII each with 2 pairs of wingretaining setae; tube usually shorter than head.
