Eupolyphaga fengi yongshengensis subsp. nov .
( Figs. 10 View FIGURE 10 G–H; 15 M–O; 30 A–D)
Type material. Holotype: CHINA: Yunnan: male (SWU), Liude Township [六德乡], Yongsheng County [永胜 县], Lijiang City [丽江市], 2400m, 11.VII.1984, Shu-Yong Wang leg. Paratype: 1 male ( SWU), same data as the holotype .
Diagnosis. E. f. yongshengensis subsp. nov . can be distinguished from the nominotypical subspecies by the denser maculae on tegmina (while scattered in nominotypical subspecies) and brownish coloration (while dark brown in nominotypical subspecies).
Description. Male. General: measurements (mm): body length: 15.9–18.2, overall length: 28.0–28.1, pronotum length×width: 4.4–4.5×7.5–7.7, tegmen length: 24.3–24.4. Small, slender; body brown, tegmina hyaline, maculated ( Fig. 10 View FIGURE 10 G–H). Head: vertex black, face dark brown. Interocular space moderate. Ocelli large, ocelli ridge curved, upper pubescent. Frons dark brown, yellowish laterally, median light brown, wrinkled. Antennae dark brown. Clypeus distinct; ante-clypeus yellow; post-clypeus dark brown, lateral margins yellow. Labrum brown, distal margin depressed, slightly yellowish. Maxillary palpi and labial palpi dark brown (Fig. 15 N–O). Pronotum: brown, anterior margin yellow, slightly maculated. Surface generally with small brownish pubescence and setae, lateral margins with some long setae. Margins rounded, not distinctly angular, apex slightly convex and truncated, lateral margins round (Fig. 15 M). Tegmina and wings: exceeded the end of abdomen about 8.6–9.7 mm. Tegmina hyaline, light brownish yellow, disorderly covered with small brown spots, some individual with tegmen occupied by large brown plaques so that the hyaline area is isolated into many small spots. Wings hyaline, light brownish, distal portion slightly maculated. Legs: yellowish brown, mixed with brownish coloration; surface covered with long yellowish pubescence; tibial spines reddish brown. Abdomen: smooth, dark brown, disorderly with some yellow spots, a yellow trail longitudinally through the median of abdomen. Supra-anal plate well pubescent, apex slightly protruded; two median sclerites small; cerci long ( Fig. 30 A View FIGURE 30 ). Subgenital plate brown for the exposed part; styli small, thin ( Fig. 30 B View FIGURE 30 ). Genitalia: well sclerotized. Left phallomere: Anterior of L1 protruded, round, with a process towards left, two hind lobes robust, wide apart; L2 less sclerotized, curved roundly, right end wrench-like; L3 straight, thin, the hook curved roundly; pda short, paa bud like. Right phallomere: large. R1M narrow, hind portion expand; R1L thin; R3 concave; R2 irregular, an indentation divided it into two chunks, the outer one small, round, the inner one elongate, large ( Fig. 30 View FIGURE 30 C–D).
Female. Unknown.
Nymph. Unknown.
Ootheca. Unknown.
Variation. Males mainly vary by the density of maculae on tegmina.
Etymology. The subspecies name “yongshengensis” is derived from the type locality Yongsheng County, in Lijiang, Yunnan.
Distribution. China (Yunnan) ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 ).
