Type:— IRAN. Prov. Golestan: Ramian city, 37º 0ʹ 52ʺ N 55º 8ʹ 25ʺ E, 15 April 2018, Ranjbar 41304 (holotype BASU, isotype G) GoogleMaps .
Diagnosis: — Pterocephalus ramianensis is s imilar to P. plumosus but differs in having a single stem 60–80 cm high, long appressed pilose with loosely long glandular hairs stem (vs. stem up to 40 cm, pubescent to long pilose), basal cauline leaves oblong-obovate in outline, 7–12 × 2.5–3 cm, pinnate (6 lateral segments), crenate margin, petiole 1.5–2.5 cm long (vs. oblong-ovate, 3–4 × 1–2 cm, undivided, dentate margin, sessile), middle cauline leaves oblong, 7–9 × 2–3 cm, with 6 lateral segments (vs. oblong ovate, 3–4 × 0.8–1 cm, with 4 lateral segments), upper oblong (vs. linear-lanceolate), peduncle up to 8 cm long (vs. 20 cm long), involucral bracts 10–11 mm long (vs. 10–12 mm), corolla yellow (vs. liliac to purple).
Etymology —The specific epithet refers to the Ramian Area in Golestan Province, locus classicus of the new species.
