TYPE LOCALITY: USA, California, San Bernardino Co., Reche Canyon (3 mi [5 km] SE Colton), 1,250 ft. (381 m) .

DISTRIBUTION: SW California ( USA) to W Baja California Norte ( Mexico).

SYNONYMS: anthonyi Osgood, inopinus Nelson and Goldman, majusculus Huey, pallidus Mearns , xerotrophicus Huey.

COMMENTS: Reviewed by Huey (1964). Includes anthonyi, considered as a full species by Hall (1981).
