TYPE LOCALITY: Mexico, San Luis Potosi, Hacienda La Parada, about 25 mi (40km) NW Ciudad San Luis Potosi .

DISTRIBUTION: Chihuahuan desert plateau from SE New Mexico and W Texas ( USA) to Jalisco and San Luis Potosi ( Mexico).

SYNONYMS: canescens Merriam, collis Blair, popei Blair.

COMMENTS: Subspecies listed by Hall (1981).
