Taxonomy. Myotis goudoti View in CoL [sic] anjouanensis Dorst, 1960 View in CoL ,
“Anjouan [Island],” CoMoros.
Subgenus Chrysopteron. Myotis anjouanensis has been considered a race or a synonym of M. goudotii . Monotypic.
Distribution. Restricted to Anjouan I in the Comoros. View Figure
Descriptive notes. Head-body c. 48 mm, tail 45 mm, ear 16 mm, hindfoot 7 mm, forearm 43 mm; weight 6- 6 g (all measurements from single female). Similar to the Malagasy Myotis ( M. goudotii ) but larger with dark reddish brown dorsal pelage.
Habitat. Heavily disturbed forest and agricultural plots surrounded the area where a single individual was captured in November 2006.
Food and Feeding. No information.
Breeding. The single individual captured was an adult female that was lactating and had a single placentalscar.
Activity patterns. No information.
Movements, Home range and Social organization. No information.
Status and Conservation. Classified as Data Deficient on The IUCN Red List. It is not known if the species is present in any protected areas. Further studies are needed into the natural history and possible threats to this little-known species.
