Proarna strigicollis Jacobi, 1907 View in CoL new record
Proarna strigicollis Jacobi 1907: 6 View in CoL . ( Colombia)
REMARKS. This is the third of the three small (body length less than 20 mm) species of Peruvian Proarna . It can be distinguished from P. dactyliophora in that P. strigicollis has a larger body size (body length about 19.5–22 mm vs. 16–17 mm, wingspan about 56 mm vs. 45 mm), a spot of infuscation on mediocubital crossvein of the fore wing, a large primary spine on the fore femora, and a timbal cover extending to the anterior margin of the timbal covering the anterior timbal rather than about three-quarters of the timbal length with the anterior timbal exposed. It can be distinguished from P. invaria ( Walker, 1850) by the lack of infuscation along the fore wing crossveins, distal veins between apical cells, and on the ambient vein.
DISTRIBUTION. The species has been reported previously from Colombia ( Metcalf 1963a; Sanborn 2013) with recent records expanding the distribution to include Bolivia ( Sanborn 2019b). These records begin to fill in the gap in the known distribution.
