Proarna dactyliophora Berg, 1879 View in CoL new record
Proarna dactyliophora Berg 1879: 143 View in CoL . (Tucumán, Argentina)
REMARKS. This is the first of the three small (body length less than 20 mm) species of Peruvian Proarna . It can be distinguished from P. invaria ( Walker, 1850) by the lack of infuscation along the fore wing crossveins, distal veins between apical cells, and on the ambient vein. It can be distinguished from P. strigicollis by the larger body size (body length about 19.5–22 mm vs. 16–17 mm, wingspan about 56 mm vs. 45 mm), the spot of infuscation on mediocubital crossvein of the fore wing, the large primary spine on the fore femora, the timbal cover extending to the anterior margin of the timbal covering the anterior timbal rather than about three-quarters of the timbal length with the anterior timbal exposed.
DISTRIBUTION. The species has been reported previously from Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Paraguay, and Venezuela ( Metcalf 1963a; Sanborn 2011b; 2013; 2019b; Sanborn & Heath 2014).
