ORIGINALLY INCLUDED SPECIES: Corsomyza simplex Wiedemann, 1820 ; Corsomyza pennipes Wiedemann, 1820 ; Corsomyza nigra Wiedemann, 1820 ; Mulio clavicornis Wiedemann, 1819 .

TYPE SPECIES: Corsomyza simplex Wiedemann, 1820 , by original designation (on plate) .

CURRENT STATUS: Valid genus [ teste Evenhuis & Greathead (1999: 220) ].

FAMILY: BOMBYLIIDAE .

REMARKS: The original type designation is made by virtue of the plate legend indicating that the figure is of the type of the genus. Corsomyza simplex (Fig. 5) is the only species of this genus-group name figured as indicated on page 14.

CURRENT STATUS: Incorrect subsequent spelling of Eristalis Latreille, 1804 .

REMARKS: This misspelling was corrected in the errata in Wiedemann (1828: 604).
