TYPE SPECIES: Asilus marginellus Fabricius, 1781 , by subsequent designation ( Coquillett, 1910: 579) .

CURRENT STATUS: Valid genus [ teste Sabrosky (1999: 223) ].

FAMILY: ASILIDAE .

[Ornithomyia] Wiedemann, 1824: 60 [ 1830a: 608].

CURRENT STATUS: Incorrect subsequent spelling of Ornithomya Latreille, 1802 .

FAMILY: HIPPOBOSCIDAE .

REMARKS: Criteria to make this name available as an emendation were not found to be fulfilled in these works.
