ORIGINALLY INCLUDED SPECIES: Dictya clavipes Fabricius, 1805 ; Dictya femorata Fabricius, 1805 .

TYPE SPECIES: Dictya clavipes Fabricius, 1805 , by subsequent designation ( Le Peletier & Serville, 1825: 311) .

CURRENT STATUS: Valid genus [ teste Ibañez-Bernal & Hernández-Ortiz (2010: 1029) ].

FAMILY: ROPALOMERIDAE .

REMARKS: Prado & Papavero (2009) listed Ropalomera Wiedemann as dating from Wiedemann (1824) and gave the type species as Dictya clavipes Fabricius, 1805 by subsequent designation in Macquart (1844: 359; cited incorrectly by them as “1843”). However, the name was made available in Wiedemann (1820b: ix) by the listing of the name Ropalomera in association with two available names ( Dictya clavipes Fabricius, 1805 and Dictya femorata Fabricius, 1805 ); and the designation of Dictya clavipes Fabricius, 1805 by Le Peletier & Serville (1825: 311) is earlier than Macquart’s 1844 designation.
