Range: — Jamaica; Hispaniola; Costa Rica and Panama; Andes from Venezuela south to Bolivia (CO, LP, SC); southeastern Brazil (Itatiaia).
Ecology: —Common; usually a vigorous scrambling to scandent plant, in clearings and on road banks and open places in montane forests; 1700–3700 m.
