Genus Busonia Distant View in CoL
Busonia Distant 1908: 198 View in CoL ; Maldonado-Capriles 1977: 494; Xue & Zhang 2015: 542. Type species: Busoia amentata Distant View in CoL , by original designation
Diagnosis. Among the Idiocerine genera having 2+1 distal meta femoral macrosetae, genus Busonia can be recognized by the clypellus being wide at base, broader than long and the lateral frontal sutures not present beyond bases of antennae, male pygofer without basal fracture, aedeagus short stout, atrium large with ventral projection, shaft without processes. Some species of Busoniomimus namely, B. minor (Bierman) , B. mindanaensis (Baker) lack lateral frontal sutures on face, but have clypellus narrow at base and widened apically.
Remarks. Maldonado-Capriles (1977) redescribed the genus and Xue & Zhang (2015) recognized 13 species in the genus from the Oriental region. So far only the type species was recorded from the subcontinent and here we describe two new species from northeast India.
