Description. Male (holotype). Pronotum in prozona slightly, in metazona distinctly ¯attened, lateral carinae as rounded edges, median carina raised in metazona; tegmina distinctly shorter than pronotum, narrowly rounded apically; stridulatory ®le arched, with 35±39 small teeth (tooth density on the middle of the ®le 24±27 by per mm; N 54). Hind femur relatively short, swollen basally. Anal tergite with two small-triangular processes, roundly incised in the middle and folded above incision, with long thin setae medially; cerci short, thick, with basely widened string tooth in apical 1/4. Titillators small, apical arms smooth or denticulate on outer margin, basal arms with strong teeth on proximal half, smooth and strongly upcurved in distal half.

Female. VI and VII sternite roundly raised; subgenital plate laterally carinated, lateral sclerite distinct, placed premedially, with an indistinct median sulcus; ovipositor knife-like, upcurved in whole length.

Coloration. Light brown or dark dirty brown. Face with numerous small dark spots, a black pattern behind eyes and narrow light stripe in it; disc light brown, paranota with a large black spot or black pattern, margins dirty creamish; hind femur with a dark stripe laterally and with black pattern dorsally near the base; tegmina greyish with light veins; ovipositor light in the base, dark brown in the rest.

Remarks. This new species is rather similar to P. sinuata Ramme and P. melendesi sp. n. It diOEers from these species by the characters given in the key, measurements, and lower number of teeth on stridulatory ®le.

Etymology. Named after Prof. Dr Selahattin Salman, who made many contributions to the Orthoptera of Turkey.
