Ischnogaster hauxwellii Bingham, 1894: 386 , pl. 1 fig. 4.? Stenogaster bicarinata Dover and Rao, 1922: 242 .

In the genus Eustenogaster View in CoL , E. hauxwellii is known to have the widest distribution, occurring from India in the west to Java and Bali in the east. This species is superficially very similar to E. calyptodoma , especially in the facial marking pattern ( Figs. 58 View FIGURE 58 , 57 View FIGURE 57 for E. calyptodoma ), but E. hauxwellii is different from E. calyptodoma in the following structural characters: in the female, space between antennal sockets with well-defined punctures, which are more clearly separated from each other than in E. calyptodoma , mandibular mid-tooth bluntly projected (Fig. 34) [emarginate apically in E. calyptodoma ; Fig. 22], sixth metasomal tergum with tubercle blunt [usually prominent in E. calyptodoma ]; in male, dorsal half of clypeus flattened [slightly convex in E. calyptodoma ], space between antennal sockets with punctures larger than in E. calyptodoma , seventh metasomal tergum entirely covered with long hairs, digitus with long hairs ( Fig. 59 View FIGURE 59 T), volsella with spine absent, aedeagus apically less swollen ( Fig. 59 View FIGURE 59 H) than in E. calyptodoma ( Fig. 59 View FIGURE 59 F). The marking pattern is similar to that of E. calyptodoma in both females and males but different as follows; the spots on the pronotal collar, dorsal spot on the metapleuron and dorsolateral spots on the first metasomal tergum, all yellow, present in E. hauxwellii [absent in E. calyptodoma ]; markings on gena reduced or lacking [developed in E. calyptodoma ].

Body length (head + mesosoma + first two terga) 14–16.5 mm in female, 14–15 mm in male; forewing length 10–12.5 mm in female, 11.5–12.5 mm in male.
