Type locality. Pupukea Lava Tube, Oahu , Hawaii.

Material examined. Holotype and paratype on slides, Oahu: Pupukea Lava Tube, 10.xi.1979, Howarth leg. (# 5438). Deposited in CARC.

Additions to original description. Dorsal cephalic chaetotaxy with 4 antennal (An), 4 median (M), 3 sutural (S), and 2 in Gr. II ( Fig. 71 View FIGURES 71 – 76 ). Lateral process of labial palp as thick as normal chaetae, with tip just reaching apex of labial papilla ( Fig. 72 View FIGURES 71 – 76 ). Labial chaetae as m1(m2)rel1l2, all smooth; chaeta r 0.61–0.63 length of m1; chaetae X and X4 as smooth tiny chaetae; chaeta m2 only present on one side in holotype ( Fig. 73 View FIGURES 71 – 76 ). Th.II with 3 (m1, m2, m 2i) medio-medial, 2 (m4, m4p) medio-lateral, and 13–14 mac; p4 as mic. Th.III with 20 mac, 2 (m5, a6) in Gr. III and 3 (p6, m6, m6e) in Gr. IV ( Fig. 74 View FIGURES 71 – 76 ). Abd.I with 4(3) (a2, m2–4) mac; mac a2 sometimes absent ( Fig. 75 View FIGURES 71 – 76 ). Abd.II with 3 (m3, m3e, m3ep) central and 1 (m5) lateral mac. Abd.III with 1 (m3) central and 2 (am6, pm6) lateral mac. Abd.IV with 2 (B5, M) central and 3 (E2–4) lateral mac ( Fig. 76 View FIGURES 71 – 76 ).

Ecology. Known only from cave.

Distribution. Oahu.

Remarks. This species has unique 4+4 mac on Abd.I and 2+2 central mac on Abd.IV. It is closest to another Hawaii species C. kukae , but differs from the latter in the chaetotaxy of Abd.I and IV.
