Comments. First record for South America. The genus Stiretrus has eight species described. This species has been recorded for USA, Mexico, Nicaragua, Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Honduras, and Panama ( Thomas 1992; Maes 1994). This new record it is an important a range extension of the distribution of the species, known before only for the north and center of continent.
