Distribution: New Guinea; Aru Isls ( Indonesia); Boigu Isl ( Australia).

Conservation: CITES – Appendix II. IUCN / SSC Old World Fruit Bat Action Plan (1992) – Not Threatened. IUCN 2003 – Lower Risk (lc).

Discussion: poliocephalus species group. See Flannery (1995 a, b), and Bonaccorso (1998).
