Type:— BRAZIL. Provincia Rio Negro. Habitat in sylvis ad Coari ; s.d., Dr. Martius s.n. (Lectotype [here designated]: M 0086139 !; Isolectotypes: M 0086140 !, M 0086141 !) .
Distribution: —In Brazil, this species occurs in the Distrito Federal and the states of Acre, Amazonas, Goiás, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso, Roraima, Pará, Rondônia, and Tocantins. Material from Bolivia, Colombia, Peru, and Venezuela was also analyzed.
Habitat:—Dense Ombrophilous Forest.
Notes:—We found three specimens used by Schultes f. to describe D. villosula at M. The present work proposes the specimen labelled as M 0086139 as the lectotype because it has annotations made by Martius and is fertile.
